planting magnolias

Hi,

I alaways thought that Magnolia's liek d acidic soil but i saw a sgement omn gradening australia where the magnolia grower added 2kg of dolomite lime to the magnolia when plnting.

i have 3 to plant and now i am confused as to what soil condionts they prefer?

Magnolias

Always add some dolomite to the soil -they love it.Magnolias love full sun ,but sheltered from wind.
Deep organic soil,with decent drainage.
